What to do
Send Facturia-Mode: test for an sk_test_ sandbox key or live for a real one. It is not defaulted on this route: a key's mode is immutable (§3.1), so a silent guess hands back a credential that cannot be corrected. An sk_ key inherits its own mode and never sees this.
Retrying the same request will fail the same way. Change the request, not the frequency.

hint and retriable arrive in the response with these exact values: they are a function of code and come from the same dictionary GET /v1/error_codes serves, so the envelope and the dictionary cannot disagree. Both are English on the wire by design — one registry, one language. More in The error envelope.
