# empresa_rut_claimed (/en/docs/errores/empresa_rut_claimed)

This RUT already has a LIVE empresa on another Facturia account.

|                |                                   |
| -------------- | --------------------------------- |
| **Code**       | `empresa_rut_claimed`             |
| **Type**       | `conflict_error` — State conflict |
| **HTTP**       | `409`                             |
| **Retriable?** | No                                |

## What to do [#what-to-do]

Only LIVE empresas claim a RUT (#450): a sandbox empresa reserves nothing and is never refused here, so experimenting with a real RUT in test mode locks nobody out. Two live ones would make inbound alias routing ambiguous and quarantine documents for both accounts. If this is your company, contact support instead of creating a second empresa.

> **Warning**
>
> Retrying the same request will fail the same way. Change the request, not the frequency.

## The envelope [#the-envelope]

```json
{
  "error": {
    "type": "conflict_error",
    "code": "empresa_rut_claimed",
    "message": "…",
    "hint": "Only LIVE empresas claim a RUT (#450): a sandbox empresa reserves nothing and is never refused here, so experimenting with a real RUT in test mode locks nobody out. Two live ones would make inbound alias routing ambiguous and quarantine documents for both accounts. If this is your company, contact support instead of creating a second empresa.",
    "retriable": false,
    "doc_url": "https://docs.facturia.cl/errors/empresa_rut_claimed",
    "request_id": "req_01K2R7Q9M4T2VB"
  }
}
```

Program against `code`, never against `message` — the prose can be rewritten, the code cannot (§5.8).

`hint` and `retriable` arrive in the response with these exact values: they are a function of `code` and come from the same dictionary `GET /v1/error_codes` serves, so the envelope and the dictionary cannot disagree. Both are English on the wire by design — one registry, one language. More in [The error envelope](/en/docs/errores).
